About
When you imagine moving a hand, the mu and beta rhythms over the opposite motor cortex lose power, and after the imagery ends beta often overshoots its baseline. On a spectrogram each of these events has a channel, an onset and offset, and a frequency band, so this project treats them as objects. Five central electrodes are stacked into one 640 by 640 image, box labels come from z-scored power, and YOLO11n, YOLO11s and Faster R-CNN train on BCI Competition IV-2a with every number reported cross-session. Single-trial labels failed a phase-randomized surrogate test, so each image averages five trials with the same cue; at that level every class beats surrogates by 5 to 22 times. YOLO11n reaches a test mAP@0.5 of 0.927 over three seeds. As a decoder the boxes fall well behind CSP + LDA, because most groups of tongue and feet imagery contain no ERD at all.
